Embarking on a journey of discovery and collaboration, young Serbian farmers ventured into the heart of Slovenia for an enriching Expert Visit from October 26 to 27, 2023.
The AgriSkills multiplier event was organized in cooperation with the Slovenian Rural Youth Association, a leading Slovenian NGO in the field of rural development and agriculture with a special focus on young farmers, and the Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry of Slovenia (CAFS).
During the first day, the participants delved into a trio of farm visits across Slovenia’s beautiful countryside. From exploring SIP production in the idyllic Savinja Valley to immersing themselves in the bountiful orchards of Fruit-growing farm Aškerc in Rimske Toplice, and culminating with a visit to the esteemed Farm Podpečan in Žalec, each stop offered a glimpse into the diverse landscape of Slovenian agriculture.
The second day was dedicated to AgriSkills. The multiplier event was held in Ljubljana in the conference hall of The Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry of Slovenia. The focus was on knowledge-sharing and dialogue on key topics shaping the future of farming. The event was under the topic: “Agriskills and the Need for Skills Enhancement in Digital Farming and Precision Farming”. Welcomed by esteemed representatives from KGZS and ZSPM, including Mrs. Anja Mager (President ZSPM) and the coordinator for the field of young farmers Jože Očko, the stage was set for an engaging exchange of ideas.
Amidst the discussions, the spotlight was on the AgriSkills project, with Matevž Šlabnik (id20) explaining its transformative impact on agricultural education and skills. Doris Letina (ZSPM) provided valuable insights into the state of young farmers in Slovenia, while Dr. Miran Lakota led a compelling exploration into the realm of digitalization in agriculture.
With 43 participants, including young farmers, experts, and VET providers, in attendance, the event served as a hub of collaboration and learning, fostering connections that transcend borders and nurturing a shared vision of innovation and sustainability in agriculture.
This multiplier event of the AgriSkills project served as a convergence point for agricultural experts from both nations, fostering invaluable exchanges and insights.
